2021 Book Wrap Up [Part three: ARCs]
Apparently 2021 was the year of all things bookish because not only did I start listening to audiobooks and reading romance, I also signed up for NetGalley!
Through NetGalley, I've gotten to read a few books this year that I probably wouldn't have otherwise. It was a slow start with only five ARCs this year since I didn't sign up until September, but I'm already really looking forward to the books I've been approved for for 2022!
Here are the five books I reviewed on NetGalley this year:
Acoustics - London Price 4★
Acoustics is a M/M romance with trans male and cis-male MCs. Their relationship has such a fun and flirty build up and it was an absolute joy to read. Acoustics is the first book in the Portland Symphony series and I can't wait for the next book! This book was published 29 October, 2021 and you can find my full NetGalley review here.
Chasing Fireflies - Chloe Fowler 2.5★
Chasing Fireflies is an emotion-packed YA romance. Unfortunately, this book didn't really do it for me. I struggled to get through it because of the overwhelming amount of drama and high school cliches. This book was published 25 October, 2021 and you can find my full NetGalley review here.
Parting the Veil - Paulette Kennedy 4★
Parting the Veil is a gothic mystery that follows the MC from her home in New Orleans to her deceased aunt's property in the English countryside. Her newly inherited estate comes with a mandatory marriage clause and a mysterious, handsome neighbor who might solve that problem. Or make it far, far worse. The twists and turns in this story were dark and engaging, and the small paranormal aspect to the story made it all the more haunting. This book was published 1 November, 2021 and you can find my full NetGalley review here.
Bleed More, Bodymore - Ian Kirkpatrick 2★
Bleed More, Bodymore is a mystery/horror story that I received as an audiobook ARC. The narration was monotone and dull, and I DNF the book because I couldn't get past the narration and the awful personality of the MC. Perhaps one day I'll give it another chance and read the physical version. This book was published 31 October, 2021 and you can find my full NetGalley review here.
